Mother’s Day

All I can say is that this week has been hectic and busy.  Besides being down and out with a summer head cold at the beginning of this week and trying to keep going to work, I totally missed my traditional present to my mom and wife of Shari’s Berries chocolate covered strawberries.

I took care of mom with a desert she wanted, but I had other plans for the wife.

Anyone who knows me knows I love to cook especially for those who I count as friends and family.  But, there are times where I simply like to be catered to.  I joke that my wife’s favorite meal is one that someone else cooks and serves to her.

I also like to try new places, even though I have been disappointed more often than not.  With that in mind, I found a new place to try that worked out wonderfully.

Enter The Lagoon Restaurant.

Since there are a few negative reviews to this place, I was a bit worried, but we had a good time even though they made a major mistake on my order.

First of all, we ate on the upper deck seen here:

This was very attractive since my wife had a good time eating on the upper deck of the Ocean View pier restaurant.  That place is too windy, too sandy and too crowded most of the time.  The Lagoon was a quiet and nice change.

My wife had the chili and cornbread while I ordered the Philly Steak sub and mozzarella cheese sticks.  The cheese sticks are excellent especially when paired with their warm and very thick sauce.  Hard to describe, but to me, it made the typical marinara seem dull.

Instead of my Philly, they brought me an oyster po’boy.  It took them not that long to fix it and the sandwich was great as was the homemade fries that go with it.

Only two people were tending to the top area and they were constantly moving.  The service was very good.

The dessert of toasted Almost cake was lite yet a satisfying finish to the meal.

My wife and I plan on going back.

I have other updates including water tank, garden an yes, even creepy neighbor updates to post, but for now, happy Mother’s Day.
